The seven positions for the judicial branch have gone unfilled for over a year. The only position filled is chief justice by Sebastian Aviles, who was reconfirmed this summer.

In the last year, rent prices have been skyrocketing in the city of Miami. A combination of big conglomerates coming into the city as well as a growing demand in condos has been driving local residents to Broward county.

The mayor of North Miami Beach says an ordinance barring city officials from some realestate transactions that need city approval is an attack on his livelihood.

Mayor Anthony DeFillipo has been a real estate broker for over 15 years.
